The Senior Center provides a variety of educational and advocacy programs including seminars on housing options, advanced directives, fraud prevention, and benefits and resources available to older adults. Each summer, we offer an AARP Smart Driver refresher course. During tax srason, we host AARP tax volunteers who provide free tax preparation to over 100 local older adults. We also have State Health Insurance Counseling Program (SHIP) volunteers to help members understand and navigate the Medicare benefits that may be available to them.
Life is a series of transitions, and as we age, the rate of changes can accelerate. We may experience declining health, loss of a loved one, and downsizing to name a few. Senior Center social workers are available at the Center to help people navigate through these changes and get connected to resources and referrals in the community. Contact Executive Director, Julie Reich at 973.635.4565 to learn more.
The Senior Center of the Chathams maintains a large library of free information, articles, brochures, and pamphlets about topics such as health, senior housing, home care, transportation options, assisted living, continuing care retirement communities, social services, and more. All are welcome to visit the Center at 58 Meyersville Road (lower level), Chatham, NJ during business hours to pick up materials of interest.
