Recreation and Fitness
Recreation and Exercise Classes – The Center offers a number of options to help people exercise and stay fit. These include Pickleball, Men’s Basketball, Tone & Flex, Qi Gong Tai Chi, Dance Instruction, Chair Zumba, and Guided Relaxation. Our instructors work with all levels of fitness and ability. Contact the Center to sign up and for information about fees.
Tone & Flex – Class includes light aerobics, toning exercises with hand and ankle weights, balance training using Swiss balls, stretching and more. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00-10:00am in the Gym.
Men’s Basketball – Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:00am-Noon. New players always welcome to join a game.
Dance Lessons – Taught by a dance instructor, competition judge, and former dance school owner with over 30 years’ experience in standard and Latin dance. The type of dance taught varies with each 8-week session. Casual loose-clothing advised. Avoid rubber-soled shoes. Partner not required. Monday, 1:00-2:30pm.
Pickleball – A co-ed racquet sport, described as a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:30am-2:30pm in the Gym. 9:30-10:30am for advanced players only.
Qi Gong Tai Chi – A series of slow flowing movements which gently stretch muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These low impact exercises heighten awareness of the mind-body-breath connection and help to improve balance and coordination. Tuesday & Thursday at 11:00am.
Guided Relaxation – Participants are lead through a series of detailed relaxation and meditative exercises that allow them to realize immediate benefits here and again, when practiced at home. Fridays at 10:45am.
Chair Zumba – A fun fitness class that combines the party atmosphere and Latin dance moves of Zumba with the specific needs of people who prefer to exercise sitting down. Get a workout and leave with a smile on your face! Classes are free. Day/Time: TBA
Seminars on Healthy Aging
Healthy Aging Seminars – Throughout the year, the Center offers informative presentations on ways to stay healthy and active. Topics like nutrition, fall prevention, management of conditions such as diabetes, and other tips for staying active are covered.
Nutrition Series: Second Tuesday of the month, 12:30-1:30pm – sign-up required
Other Seminars: Typically on a Monday; check calendar for specific dates and times.
Blood Pressure Screening
Free Blood Pressure Screenings are offered once a month – sign-ups are not required; walk-ins are welcome.
Third Thursday of the month, 11:00-12:15pm
Health Screenings, Other
Health Screenings, Other – Throughout the year, the Center offers other health screenings such as hearing, vision, and memory. Please check our calendar or newsletter for dates and times.
