Ways To Help
Volunteer Opportunities
Join the vibrant volunteer team at the Chatham Senior Center and make a meaningful impact. Our non-profit thrives on the energy and dedication of volunteers. Whether you’re looking to share your skills, explore your passions, or simply give back to our thriving community, we’d love to hear from you. Connect with Julie Reich, our Executive Director, by calling 973-635-4565 or emailing julie@chathamseniorcenter.org. Here are some of the opportunities where you can make a difference.
General Office Assistance:
This includes answering phones, taking messages, light office work (such as filing, faxing, making copies, etc.), setting up refreshments, and other customer service duties. This includes heavy contact with Center members.
Party/Event Helper:
From time to time assistance is needed with one of our many social events. Duties can include decorating, setting up for events, and serving food. Can also include on-site assistance at our paper shred fundraisers.
Craft Teacher:
Do you have an artistic talent or hobby that you can teach to others? Contact us to schedule a 45-minute to 1-hour craft session here at the Center. We will supply all the needed materials.
Library Aide:
Help keep our lending library organized by shelving and re-shelving books in proper areas.
Passion/Talent Projects:
We’re always interested in meeting enthusiastic people with expertise, passion, or a special skill they would like to share with our members. Perhaps you can volunteer to: hold a TED Talk, speak to an audience about your work, passion, or hobbies; share photos from a unique travel experience – or whatever you may have to offer. We’re open to ideas!

Corporate Sponsorships
Elevate your community impact by partnering with us through corporate sponsorships. At the Senior Center of the Chathams, your support is crucial in helping us to achieve our mission and sustain the enriching programs and vital services that benefit our membership. With a variety of sponsorship opportunities available throughout the year, there’s a perfect fit for any company looking to connect with our audiences. Contact Julie Reich, our Executive Director, at 973-635-4565 to discuss partnership opportunities.
Other Ways To Help
Get involved and make a difference at the Senior Center of the Chathams!
There are many ways to donate:
- Planned Giving – is an effective and mutually beneficial way of giving to the Senior Center. By making a planned gift, you assist us in our mission to protect and preserve the independence and dignity of our growing aging population, while enjoying the benefits of capital gains, tax savings, increased income, and/or income tax savings. Most importantly, a planned gift maximizes your giving potential while providing for your future financial security and that of your loved ones.
- Sustaining/Monthly Gifts – you can make a monthly commitment of whatever amount you like.
- Memorial and Tribute Gifts – You can honor a special person with a gift to the Center. Please note the
individual’s name and details on the donation form and an acknowledgment will be sent to the person
or family. - Bequests – you may make a gift to the Senior Center by designating our organization (Senior Services Center of the Chathams, Inc.) as a beneficiary in your will. A bequest is a written statement in a donor’s will, directing that a specific asset, or a percentage of the total estate, will be transferred to the charity upon the donor’s death.
- Annual Appeal – we mail an Annual Appeal to members, donors, and sponsors in the spring and in the fall. If you
would like to be added to our mailing list, please call 973.635.4565 and give us your name and address. - Retirement Plans – Gifting a retirement plan or IRA requires obtaining a beneficiary form from the retirement plan administrator and naming the Center as the beneficiary of the policy. Upon death, the Center would receive all or a portion of the proceeds from the policy.
- Proceeds from a Life Insurance Policy – Any portion of your life insurance policy assets that you leave to the Senior Center will be exempt from inheritance and estate taxes. You can leave all or a portion of your policy to a charity.
- Gifts of Stock – Appreciated stock represents the most common type of non-cash gift. Publicly traded stock can be sold instantaneously with a phone call to a broker.
- We welcome community members of all ages to support our mission and make an impact. Whether you’re looking to volunteer, donate, or engage in any other form of support, every effort counts and is deeply appreciated.
- For more details on how you can contribute, please reach out to Julie Reich, our Executive Director, at julie@chathamseniorcenter.org, or call 973-635-4565. To ensure your contribution aligns with your individual financial and legal considerations, we recommend consulting with your attorney and financial advisor before making a gift.
There are other ways to donate such as Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Lead Trusts. Planned giving donors should consult with their attorneys and financial advisors before making a planned gift – or any form of donation to any charity.
